Besides the famous Lord Street and the Southport pier, Churchtown village and Birkdale heritage, there is so much to do near Southport...
Ainsdale Nature Reserve
Enjoy and exhilarating walk around Ainsdale National Nature Reserve. This is a circular route and it is possible to join it from the beach car park at Ainsdale (a short walk along the shore) or from Freshfield Station.

Situated in the centre of Lord Street, next to the Town Hall and Atkinson Art Gallery, Southport Arts Centre is a multi-faceted facility that offers a variety of high quality events including theatre, music, comedy and film.
Churchtown is a tranquil, historic village on the northern fringe of Southport that dates back to the Domesday Book. Browse through the village's specialist shops and stop for a bite in its charming cafes and pubs.
Birkdale village is home to several restaurants and bars as well as a number of independent retailers, including a bridal shop, fusion art photographer and the Birkdale Cheese Centre. The village is just a five minute drive fro Southport town centre.
Anthony Gormley's 'Another Place'
Visit Crosby beach to see these spectacular cast iron sculptures spread out along three kilometres of the foreshore, stretching almost one kilometre out to sea.
Rufford Old Hall
Home to the Heskeths for 500 years - fantastic furniture, arms, armour and tapestries sweep through the hall where history springs to life in the Hesketh's dining room, the food-laden table, lit candles and a 'fire in the hearth'.
Formby Point Nature Reserve
Red squirrels, natterjacks, prehistoric footprints and miles of coastal walks are just waiting to be discovered - part of Formby's amazing and ever changing landscape.
Enjoy breathtaking sea views or a picnic; head out on a bracing coastal walk or find out about Formby's fascinating coastal history.

The ALbert Dock - we recommend the "Duck Tours"
The Mersey Ferries
The Cavern Club
Speke Hall, Liverpool
Speke Hall is a rare Tudor timber-framed manor house in a most unusual setting on the banks of the River Mersey - a unique and beautiful mixture of Tudor simplicity and Victorian Arts and Crafts' aesthetics.
Martin Mere Nature Reserve, Burscough
Hawks (hen harriers, hobby, merlins and peregrine falcons all hunt the marshes)
Swans (especially, thousands of wintering whooper swans)
Dragonflies & Damselflies

Brilliant B&B - Feb 2013
"This is what service should be! Lovely welcome , owners couldn't do enough for us. Super breakfast, very nice room with lots of thoughtful touches. Good location. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay here if visiting Southport again."
Made us feel home - Dec 2012
"We were made to feel so welcome. There was an incredible choice of breakfast which was so tasty, best breakfast I have had in a B&B in the UK."
"I was welcomed by name as soon as I walked in the door by Leigh and Cleo the charming hosts. My room was better equipped than many 4 star hotels that I have stayed in. The breakfast was fantastic with possibly the widest choice that I have come across anywhere. I look forward to returning sometime. Highly recommended."
Ann and George, Liverpool
